There aren’t many exciting moments in my current job. I don’t meet new people, and my paper work doesn’t vary much from day to day. I am eternally thankful for the stability, but there is no denying that it gets a bit monotonous at times. When the drudgery begins to creep in, I always welcome an occasion to laugh.
I think I might have mentioned this in previous writings, but I keep finding humorous tidbits to add to my list. When applying for liability or homeowners insurance, individuals much list the type and breed of any owned pets.
Some people own datsuns (dachshunds). Some people own rockweilers (rottweilers). And today, I discovered that some lucky individuals own beetles (beagles). Yee-ha. The thing that struck me was the fact that datsuns and beetles are both vehicles.
I recently processed an application for a dwelling in Toombs County. It was a one story frame house on a wide dirt road. Nothing extraordinary except for the extremely large snake at the edge of the road in front of the dwelling. It had the criss-cross diamond markings of a diamond back rattlesnake and looked rather menacing ever in perceived death. It was stretched out close to the mailbox and (if held vertically by its tail) would have been at least as tall as the mailbox...if not taller. It looked as if it were easily close to four feet long. Eep!
That was an interesting day in underwriting...
