"I thought she was a sandwich until she went spare on me hand."
This has been a weekend of extreme highs and lows. Friday was a rotten mess. I feel that in retrospect, however, it is more beneficial to remember the highs. Therefore, I will focus on the positives.
I worked for about half the day on Saturday. Sheri and I went to a local store to pick out Christmas decorations for units at the Medical Center. I fell in love with some of the themed trees, and I'm thinking of trying to incorporate a theme with our random collection of ornaments. Art and Suzanne took the family to lunch at O'Charley's and spent a fun-filled afternoon with David and Emily. Later in the evening, we took David down to the pool for a swim. We had a late picnic of chicken skewers, corn, and grilled pineapple. Johnathan's chicken was slightly undercooked, and one of the sprinklers near the rental office busted, but it was an enjoyable evening nonetheless.
We went to church today, then came home and crashed. I started watching "Bend it Like Beckham" and was inspired to venture to the gym. I spent thirty minutes in the fitness center and felt pretty good about it. I would like to go at least every other day, but we'll see how that pans out. I imagine it will largely depend on the state of affairs at home. David and I fed the ducks down by the pond, then Emily and I watched a little bit of "Help." I'm beginning to realize how much I want to spend time with my kids. I also want to spend more time with God. Both things have felt very urgent lately, and even today's message dealt with the need to place God first in one's life. I'm trying to stay on top of things. I've been writing to-do lists for myself, and now that my house is spotless, I would like to see it stay that way. I'm never looking forward to Monday, but at least it's only a four-day work week. I'm off Friday and headed up for a weekend with the Pumpkins in North Georgia.
