Oh Beautiful for Spacious Skies

What an American day. I'm sitting here on the screened-in porch, staring at clear blue skies and sprawling live oaks, drinking sweet tea, and watching my son play with a gigantic wooden train set. Sunlight is filtering through the Spanish Moss, and as always, I'm tempted to grab my camera. By this point, however, I'm very aware that such ghostly beauty is impossible to capture. A slight breeze is managing to keep the temperature at bay. Somehow the cares of life haven't followed me here. Perhaps they will find me again, but at this moment I feel completely at peace.

I was bored in the car, so I attempted to list all fifty states. I only succeeded in remembering forty-six. It's driving me crazy trying to remember the final four. It is also bothering me that I can only remember about half of the state capitals. It's a nerdy objective, but I plan on re-learning the capitals, then learning the countries of the world.

I learned all the states in alphabetical order in a song when I was little :)

I feel bad b/c I don't know many of the capitals or other countries.
