Writer's block again. I'm seriously considering taking all of my favorite phrases from previous works and just lumping them together in some sort of order. I detailed the weekend on livejournal, so there might not be much to say on here. Public schools have been closed Monday and Tuesday due to the spike in gas prices, but the broke college students are still required to attend class. It doesn't really affect me since I walk the three blocks to campus, but what about students who commute? It's almost as if the cost to individuals doesn't matter as long as the state saves some dough where transportation is concerned. It's hard for me to pass judgment, however, because I'm not fully informed of the situation.
Jessica introduced me to google earth. I highly recommend checking it out. "THE WORLD IS ON WHEELS!!!" (sound effect)

...guess it's the amount of fuel (he was aiming for conservation) - and those buses burn a LOT of fuel...
Yes, I understand that, but my point is: 1) highschoolers who have the day off are more than likely going to burn MORE fuel than they would have on a normal school day, and 2) it does nothing to lower the cost to individuals...only the state (who saves money on buses).
Then I guess the high schoolers need to learn the meaning of the word "conserve" as well. After all, everyone should join in and not just expect the government to do it all. And as far as lowering the cost to the individuals...nothing is making them run around and burn money. Also, it does save individuals (if they pay taxes) money if it saves the government money, does it not? Just a couple of other things to think about. :) Not saying I agree or disagree with what he did. But I do have sympathy with him in the fact that no matter what he did, or if he had done nothing, he would have gotten flack. At least he tried. ~d
Aww, thanks Megan! That totally made my day.
And yes, I admire that someone is at least TRYING to do something about the gas issue. I'm just not sure how much it will really save (since it is only two days), but then again, I don't know how much is spent daily on fuel for school buses. I'm not knocking him...just questioning. I was mostly thinking of the fact that if they're going to cancel public schools, why aren't public universities closed as well? ::shrugs::
