My plate. I highly recommend scones with clotted cream and fresh raspberries/blackberries.

When did my baby get so big?

(Note: There was a cute picture of Kristin and David that somehow didn't make it into my uploads. It will follow in time.)

David's Pre-K Graduation

David's pre-K graduation. I couldn't use the flash because David was too far away...so as a result, he turned out a little blurry. He was a scarecrow...and his class performed various songs from The Wizard of Oz. It was meant to be symbolic of their step into a new world with a heavy emphasis on making dreams come true. (Also note - no matter how many changes occur over the next year, your child will always feel that "there's no place like home.")

Waving his name sign at me. Not sure if he was just waving or trying to make sure I knew who he was. :-)

The sound of silence

David went to bed around 8:30, and Johnathan put Emily down in her room shortly afterwards. It’s the first night Emily has fallen asleep by herself in her own bed, and it might not have gone as smoothly as it did if she hadn’t been dog tired. Still, I was rather relieved and a little sad to see her take such a big step. Johnathan is out and about on a rare excursion, which means that I’m alone in the house with two sleeping children. They’re both far enough from the living room that I can’t even hear the rustle of sheets when they move…only the steady hum of Johnathan’s computer fan. When my husband headed for the door, he kissed me and said, “Enjoy your silence.” I’m no longer accustomed to such long periods of quiet, and I expected to find it a bit foreign. But instead, I’m welcoming the opportunity for undisturbed thought and remembering what it was like to have moments that were solely my own.

Easter recovered (sort of)

Hoorah! My mother-in-law let me steal some of her Easter photos (since mine were lost in the great memory card crash of 2009).

All the candy inside was melted, but he didn't seem to mind. :-)
