Hold me like the river Jordan
"Thriller" was never my favorite Michael Jackson song, and I don't particularly care for "The Way you Make me Feel" or "Beat It." I was too young to remember or appreciate the "King of Pop" at his absolute highest, and as a result, my favorite song was one that emerged in the early 90s. Will You Be There was in the movie "Free Willy" and was probably my first independent knowledge of Jackson as a musical celebrity. I have always had very mixed emotions in regards to Michael Jackson, and it's a feeling that persists even after his passing. He was both America's icon and America's favorite punching bag. He's adorable and immensely talented as the focal point of the Jackson Five...and yet somewhere along the way, he morphed into a "freakish" individual who was scarily out of touch with reality. Whether you love him for his ground-breaking moves and identifiable vocals...or find his psychologically-warped-man-child antics disturbing beyond all reason, it's undeniable that Michael Jackson changed the music world as drastically as his ever-changing personal appearance.
Another American icon slipped away yesterday as Farrah Fawcett lost her prolonged battle with cancer.

Happ Birthday, David!
(Please note: A smudge got on the camera lens about halfway through the birthday party and created a glare on several pictures.)
